“Working with Eugy is great. He is a great person. He is a great mentor. He’s someone I can always call on when I need advice or anything like that. Funny enough, we are actually related. He’s my cousin,” Hansel, creative director for the popular idiosyncratic Ghanaian music artiste and performer Eugy. Revealed during our remote interview last week.
He is such an aspirational fashion stylist born and raised in Milton Keynes England. While the 20-year old Hansel, was raised along with four other siblings in London. His biological parents have roots from Ghana. “I am a Ghanaian-British ascent. My parents are from Ghana,” He tells me in such a soft and calm tone. In responding to my question to know more about his place of origin and background, prior to when he ventured into fashion styling. Hansel, went about exploring his creativity from being a footballer, a dancer and playing the violin at the time.
According to him, “Those were like the main three things I guess I can remember. But I have always been interested in fashion here and there but it was never like how it is now. It began with shoes, and then I started like drawing out shoes. Drawing, designing shoes,” He said, sincerely. Apparently his journey into fashion kicked off from the consistent display of his creative ideas on sketch books. Expressing them from designing and redesigning concepts for his favorite wears. He has continued to cultivate and explore this innate ability to express his creativity through fashion.
He confessed that since then he has continued to grow. During the COVID-19 pandemic. He designed face masks and ever since then to date. His creative directing house “Revelation 22,” a UK based fashion brand has been developing and creating concepts based on Christian values. Revelation 22, is a definitive stylish house. Emanating from London and has been navigating through the noisy UK creative landscape.
The Hansel’s founded company has been producing authentic concepts and fashion styles that strongly reflect one’s creativity. As a young innovative creative fashion stylist, coming from the United Kingdom. Hansel encourages that stylists create from within themselves, rather than imitating ideas from other notable brands. However, the fashion industry has been lucrative and increasingly growing.
While various challenges exist around the industry. Hansel doesn’t allow these hindrances deter him as much as he steadily focuses on being himself. He shared that, “It’s just being unapologetic about what you are making. Because at the end of the day you are the designer, you need to move with purpose” He said confidently. “For me, that’s based on Jesus Christ you know as a Christian. You need to know what you are doing at first otherwise it would be a waste of time,” He shared his final thoughts. Concerning how he motions his career with peculiarity and genuine purpose.
For Hansel, being the creative director for his cousin Eugy, close to a year now is not something that just comes up. In him, he believes that what has driven their relationship is based on his true creative expression through fashion. The past three years for his career has successfully positioned his brand. Unarguably as one of the fast rising UK based fashion house known as “Revelation 22.” As much as he continues to celebrate and unlock new levels of milestones.
