Marcy With The Flowers, explores something new with debut album “Afro Life Bar.”
Marcy With The Flower, is a young Nigerian music luminary whose artistic influence mirror the culture of Hip-hop. And the lifestyle and sonic texture of the thriving alte community.
This year has been eventful for Marcy With The Flowers. From releasing a couple singles prior to the official release of his most anticipated 8-track album tagged “Afro Life Bar.” He also performed on several notable event across Port Harcourt. Like the Listening Party, Garden City Block Party, where he shared stage with buzzing Nigerian acts like Qing Madi and more.
Last year, Marcy With The Flower also engaged his growing fanbase. He performed at Nigeria’s biggest annual outdoor event christened as Bolé Festival, in Port Harcourt. Alongside acts like Ruger, Cavemen, Dandizzy amongst others.
In sharing the genuine story behind the release of his album “Afro Life Bar.” Marcy With The Flowers revealed that the creation of Afro Life Bar, was truthfully created out of boredom. According to him, “I was bored so I made an album. That’s the truth about Afro life bar. I started off the year with just content creating. Delivering a few short songs on Audiomack and making casual videos for social media campaign, and I thought to get serious and make an EP,” He recalled and added.
“I made some songs tailored for the EP titled “Lover’s Revenge” (LR). All arranged, recorded and ready for mixing but it didn’t see the light of day. With transitioning from a Hip-Pop artist into an alte/afrobeats artist was a little challenging and I wasn’t sure about “LR” so there was a pause for some weeks.” He said.
The making of Afro Bar Life was seamless yet demanding that Marcy With The Flowers expands his artistry. He continues to narrate the story behind the album and said. “I live with my friend and then he traveled for a month and a few weeks, during this time I had no one to tally to for days and then I got hit the inspiration to create music for Afro life bar. An album that can help you go through every phase of living in Nigeria. From having a party, going for a drive or roadtrip, having a chill evening, and most especially having a good time in a bar. Afro life bar embodies the true Nigerian living. The project features other super talented artists like Ekkotothemoon, Saint Lucas, Sukah, and Klassick From The 90s” He concluded.

While he recounts that he was away from making music for 6-years because of shuffling between school and stabilizing his life. However, his return into the music industry in February 2021, gave birth to a single titled “Bad Decision,” which was more like a freestyle record. According to him the record was aired on two YouTube series titled “Our Best Friend’s Wedding” and “Little Black Book Season 2,” the following year. Marcy With The Flowers, keeps recording an immense career growth as he currently has the same single titled “Bad Decision,” reoccurring on a thrilling Netflix classic series known as “Ololade.”
During our chat, Marcy With Flowers jokingly revealed that he would be putting out new music by February. The young Nigerian act also gave a hint that he also has a couple featured tracks in the works as well.
